From April to August 2021, the artist Eupalinos Ugajin will have an artistic occupation at the GBTH.
The idea of artistic occupation has its origins in the Situationist International Movement, a radical European movement in the 60s and 70s using politics and art with the proposal to disrupt the 20th century’s European hegemonic politics.
Nowadays the term “artistis occupation” is still used, even though with adaptations, and even has been appropriated by big cultural institutions. Differently from site-specific, in which works are developed with a certain space in mind, artistic occupations tend to be site oriented, usually happening in spaces that were abandoned and non art related.
To be adapted into Second Life, having the GBTH’s urban simulacra as a base, Eupalinos is occupying our neutral area, which is a corner of the region with more flexibility to adapt to diverse proposals that will directly influence the ground structure.
